Phillips is an established, popular brand throughout the world in the health and beauty sector. They do everything from shavers to electric toothbrushes for both men and women.

Having sold millions of items across the globe, Phillips knows the health and beauty care industry like the back of their hand.

Although not primarily focused on oral hygiene, Phillips has built itself up as an authority when it comes to all things dental, especially electric toothbrushes.

In the Philips Sonicare HX6817/01 ProtectiveClean 4100 Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush you have one of their more expensive, popular, and well-received products.

Philips Sonicare HX6817/01 ProtectiveClean 4100 Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush Product Review

The Philips Sonicare 4100 features high-quality densely packed bristles that remove up to 7x the plaque of your everyday toothbrush. You can easily reach those hard to reach places by means of the specially curved power tip which makes brushing teeth and gums a breeze.

If you’re after a safe brushing experience then the Philips Sonicare Electric Toothbrush is the one for you. Suitable for a whole host of brushing situations the Sonicare is more than safe for the following:

  • Braces
  • Fillings
  • Crowns
  • Veneers

The Philips Sonicare 4100 Electric Toothbrush features high-speed vibrations that can deliver up to 31,000 brush strokes per minute, enhancing your overall teeth cleaning experience. This allows even deeper cleaning along the teeth and gum line for a perfect smile.

Sometimes it’s hard to know if you’re brushing too hard, with the Philips Sonicare that’s all taking care of with the integrated pulsing sound that reminds you to ease off on the pressure.

Whether a normal throwaway brush or an electric toothbrush, for perfect oral health it’s recommended to change your toothbrush every couple of months.

This would normally be done by sight or just when you remember too. But, the Philips Sonicare 4100 has gone one better and included BrushSync technology.

This feature allows you to track how long, and how hard you’ve been brushing for. When the time comes to replace your brush head, a light will appear on your handle followed by a short beep letting you know, it’s now time to change.

Electric toothbrushes can take some getting used to, Phillips knows this, that’s why they’ve included a handy feature in the “easy-start program” this gives the user the option of 14 days gentle and gradual brushing power so as to allow them to get used to their new toothbrush.

As you would expect from a premium brand, Phillips has included a QuadPacer that lets you know when to move on to the next area of your mouth, whilst their Smartimer alerts you when you’ve reached the recommended two minutes.

Although consistently rated high by consumers, there is one drawback and that’s the price. It’s not the most expensive by any means, but it could be better. Considering there are some cheaper alternatives out there that offer similar features.

Overall, Phillips as a brand is one of the more quality ones out there. You know you’re in relatively safe hands buying anything made Phillips, even the more budget-friendly product range.

In terms of the Philips Sonicare 4100 Electric Toothbrush, I can safely say you’ll most have nothing but a positive experience with it.

It hasn’t got as many accessories as some of the other brands, but where it falls short in that area, it more than makes up for with some of the integrated features like the easy start program, BrushSync technology, QuadPacer, and Smartimer.

Build wise, like all Phillips products are well above average. It does the job as advertised and has an overall good product life.

It could be a little cheaper, but that can be easily forgiven with how well it performs.

If you’re looking to go a level up from the entry-level electric toothbrushes, then the Philips Sonicare 4100 could be the one for you.
